Electronic Devices
Belize's tropical environment - high humidity, heat, sand and salty air - can be tough on electronics and valuables. To help protect your gear, keep the following in mind:
- Use waterproof cases or small dry bags to protect electronics from the elements. Even durable ziplocs bags can be handy.
- Store devices properly when not in use, and double bag with important documents or passports.
- Travel smart; avoid leaving your valuables and electronics unattended at any point on your trip.
Please Note: Island Expeditions will not be held responsible for loss, theft or damage of such devices. It is the responsibility of all trip participants to adequately protect and weatherproof their documents, electronics and valuables for the duration of their travels.
Mobile and Data Availability
Cellular data is available in most parts of the country but less so at remote inland lodges and at remote islands and locations.
- Check with your service provider for travel or roaming packages to be used in Belize. This is the easiest option for travel.
- Consider an ESIM data plan. This can be the least expensive option for roaming date, but does not require purchasing a new plan and setting up a new number on your phone.
- You can purchase a local sim and data quite easily. We suggest using DIGICELL
- "WhatsApp" is widely used throughout Belize. We highly recommend you download this app prior to travel. You can use this app to phone people and businesses using either Wifi or cellular data.
