The Lighthouse Reef Adventure starts with an overnight inland discovery of Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, then heads out by boat to Lighthouse Reef, fifty-five miles off the shores of the Belize mainland.

You will spend six nights on Lighthouse Reef atoll, a tropical marine park and designated world heritage site offering unparalleled snorkeling and paddling. Well suited for families and couples of mixed abilities, our Basecamp trips offer a choice of guided activities on the reef and the flexibility for traveling companions to do things together or separately. All abilities welcome!

  • Explore and stay on remote and renowned Lighthouse Reef Atoll 
  • Spend six nights in a tent-walled cabana at our all-inclusive Adventure Basecamp on Half Moon Caye, a protected island managed by the Belize Audubon Society and home to 4000 red-footed boobies! 
  • Snorkel ‘the Aquarium,’ as well as Jacques Cousteau’s legendary Blue Hole. 
  • Stay overnight at Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, with early morning bird and wildlife viewing on a boat tour of the Crooked Tree lagoon. 
  • Includes airport pickup, accommodation and dinner with your group on your ‘day 0’ plus accommodation in Belize City at the end of your trip

Itinerary Summary

Day 0 - Welcome to Belize! You will be met at the airport and transferred to Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Relax after your journey, then meet up with your fellow travelers for dinner.
Day 1 - Enjoy bird and wildlife viewing on an early morning boat tour of Crooked Tree lagoon. Transfer to your boat midmorning for the scenic two hour journey to Lighthouse Reef. Upon arrival at our Basecamp, you will get an orientation and introduction to sea kayaking and snorkeling before heading out on your first adventure.
Days 2-4 – Explore Lighthouse Reef. Check out the amazing red-footed booby colony from the viewing platform. Go on a snorkeling excursion to the Blue Hole. Choose from morning and afternoon guided reef activities or enjoy time at leisure, relaxing in your hammock or walking the trails.
Day 5 – Snorkel ‘the aquarium’ with its towering coral formations and profusion of fish. Stop at Half Moon Caye Wall for a spectacular drift snorkel on the way home.
Day 6 - Paddle the protected waters to Long Caye and snorkel some of the best patch reefs on the atoll.
Day 7 – Enjoy one last morning of reef activities. This afternoon, you will return to the mainland by charter boat and get dropped off at the Belize Biltmore Hotel. Evening at leisure in Belize City.
