Trip Itinerary

Day 1
Stay: Bocawina Rainforest Resort
Meals: Dinner

We meet in the seaside town of Dangriga and then travel overland to Bocawina Rainforest Lodge in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. Tonight we dine for dinner  at the acclaimed Wild Fig restaurant, and meet our fellow travelers, meet your guides and go over the plan for the following day.

Day 2
Stay: Jungle River Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

From Bocawina we travel south, into the Mayan homeland of Belize, an area of rich indigenous culture and stunning scenery. We have lunch in the Village of Santa Teresa, and learn how the modern Maya people live in this very special part of the country.  Next, we head westward towards the Guatemala boarder to the river put in point.  We gather our gear, and pump up our boats.  Your guides teach the skills you need to confidently paddle your inflatable kayak in moving water before starting our journey down Belize's most beautiful rainforest rivers.  We reach the first camp before dark, and set up for a spectacular night at the river's edge.

Day 3
Stay: Jungle River Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Wake to a tropical rainforest setting in the Moho River Valley that feels straight out of a storybook, as we follow the Moho River through canyons and lush rainforest.  Each bend reveals the dynamic nature of the river with calm meandering sections and stretches of exciting rapids and chutes. Our evenings along the river include storytelling and night walks in the jungle.

Day 4
Stay: n/a
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

In the morning, as we descend out of the Maya Mountains the river changes its nature, widens and begins to meander into the coastal plains. Paddling through forests of fig trees laden with Iguana, and we slowly reach farm lands of the local Maya People.  Upon reaching the main bridge of the Moho River, our vehicle awaits and we shuttle to the village of Jordan for our final meal with the indeginous people of Belize.  After lunch, we return northward on the Southern Highway.  We reach Dangriga by 3pm to connect with a flight or alternative attangements.

Expedition Camping on the river
Expedition Camping on the River

For two nights, we set  camp  along the Moho River - the camp locations are sublime and there's always time for swimming, exploring or just soaking in the beauty of the rainforest before dinner is served.  At night, river guides turn into riverside chefs preparing their favorite meals, including fresh tortillas and savory fire roasted chicken. Using their bush skills and sharing their intimate relationship with the rainforest your Mayan guides make camping along the Moho River a high point of any trip.
