Belize's Tropical Climate
-Belize enjoys warm tropical weather throughout the year with coastal mainland temperatures averaging approximately 27°C (81°F).
-Near Belize City, monthly averages range from 24°C (76°F) in January to 29°C (84°F) in June.
-Belize’s tropical climate follows a wetter and drier seasonal cycle, with most rainfall occurring from June through November.
-Annual rainfall ranges significantly throughout the country with southern Belize receiving more than double the rainfall as the north.
The Seasonal Cycle
-February to May: generally the drier part of the year, with heat building toward the end of the season.
–June to November: most of the country’s annual rainfall occurs during these months.
–November to February: a transition toward drier conditions, with passing cold fronts occasionally bringing cooler, wetter weather.
-This is a guideline—seasonal boundaries are gradual and vary by region and year.
Weather On The Reef
-Expect a mix of sunshine, scattered clouds and tropical showers.
-Atolls and offshore islands are exposed to sea breeze which offers relief from the heat.
-Water temperatures generally range from 26–29°C (79–84°F), with cooler water in winter and warmer conditions in summer.
-We design our days activities based mostly around the strength and direction of the wind which has an affect on wave conditions/sea state.
-Cold fronts are most common from December-February and can bring cooler temperatures and northerly winds.
Weather Inland
-Inland areas can feel especially warm and humid, particularly in sheltered jungle areas. Average daytime highs tend to be higher than the national average.
-Temperatures often drop overnight, offering relief from daytime heat.
-Seasonal showers and occasional heavy downpours can leave jungle trails muddy and raise river levels.
-The annual rainfall average for northern Belize is approx. 1,500mm (60 inches). In southern Belize the average is approx. 4,000mm (160 inches).
Planning Around the Weather
-Pack for sun and showers. Bring lightweight, quick-drying clothing, a sun hat, sunglasses and a lightweight rain jacket—whatever the season.
-Prepare for cooler moments. A light fleece or windbreaker is useful for early mornings, breezy boat rides and cold fronts.

-Although rare, periods of heavy wind, waves and rainfall can affect boat transfers, snorkeling, paddling and inland excursions.
