$USD is accepted everywhere in Belize

$1 USD = $2 BZD (fixed)

$1 CAD = $1.40 BZD (approx.)

€1 EUR = $2.25 BZD (approx.)

£1 GBP = $2.65 BZD (approx.)

-The amount of personal spending money you bring will largely depend on your own needs.

-Souvenirs, cold drinks and local snacks are available for purchase in most places.

-Buffs (neck gaiters), t-shirts, hats, and rash-guards are available for purchase at both Glover’s and Lighthouse Reef Basecamps.

-Bringing a combination of $USD notes is recommended, with the majority in smaller denominations.

-It is generally good practice to separate your cash so you aren’t carrying everything in one place.

-ATM’s are available in most towns and cities; however, not all ATM’s will work with all North American cards.

-VISA and MasterCard are available in most stores and shops in major towns/cities.

-Most smaller shops require a minimum purchase of $10-$25 BZD when paying with a credit card.

-Belize City from the International airport: $30-60 BZD

-Short rides within mainland towns: $8-10 BZD

-Short rides within Caye Caulker & San Pedro: $5-10 BZD

-Private shuttles depend entirely on distance and passenger count

-Private shuttle from Belize City to Dangriga: $350-$450 BZD

-Prices vary according to location and passenger count — make sure you agree on a price before the ride starts.

-It is good practice to carry emergency cash (USD$200-$400) separate from money budgeted for meals, gratuities, etc.

-This is to help with unexpected travel expenses such as missed connections, lost luggage, and other circumstances beyond anyone’s control.
