Electricity Availability

-Belize has the same 110v electrical system as North America — no adapters needed.

-Lighthouse & Glover’s Reef Basecamps: 110v power available daily between 5:00-10:00PM in common areas.

-All other locations: 110v power available 24/7 in all rooms and common areas.

-Belize’s tropical environment can be tough on electronics — high humidity, heat, salty air, and sand.

-Use waterproof cases or dry bags to protect electronics from the elements. Even heavy-duty ziplocks can be helpful.

-Avoid leaving valuables or electronics unattended at any time during your trip.

-Most North American mobile providers offer “roam like home” type services—this is the easiest way to use your phone in Belize.

-You may want to consider an ESIM data plan—check with your mobile provider for options.

-Local SIM cards and data can be purchased —we recommend DigiCell.

–WhatsApp is used widely throughout Belize—if you plan to use your phone, we recommend downloading this app prior to arrival.

-WiFi is becoming widely available in Belize; however, speeds at some locations might be slower than you’re used to.

-Cellular & WiFi coverage is available in most populated areas of the country

-Cellular coverage may not be available on certain tours to remote locations

-If you are travelling while on business or if WiFi speed is an important need, please let us know.

-Glover’s Reef Basecamp: No WiFi. Cellular coverage only—consider mobile plan or local SIM

-Lighthouse Reef Basecamp: No cellular coverage. WiFi only—intermittent speed, $5BZD per day.

-BocaWina Rainforest Resort: No cellular coverage. WiFi only—intermittent speed, mostly common areas.

-Billy Hawk Caye: No WiFi. Cellular coverage only

-All other marine & inland lodges have cellular and WiFi coverage—speeds may vary depending on location.
