Safety...

I have nothing but praise to say for this company despite having a medical problem that required evacuation off the reef my husband & I still really enjoyed this trip. This says a lot about the guides and staff both in Belize and Vancouver. I have never seen such service in the travel industry!! My husband and I send thanks to all the staff who helped us. Dick, Alex, Rock, Mike, Joy at Glovers reef, Andrew in Dangriga & especially Leif who helped sort out all the extra logistics involved due to the evacuation. My family reports that the Vancouver officer was extremely helpful & caring from their end! I look forward to traveling with Island expeditions again!

"This vacation exceeded all of my expectations. The guides were extremely helpful, friendly and patient. ...Safety was foremost on the minds of the guides, with that in mind, my trip was made comfortable and trouble-free. ...I look forward to another adventure with Island Expeditions."

Safety is an essential priority for every Island Expeditions trip. Our guides are thoroughly trained in emergency procedures and carry two-way radios or satellite phones while on the sea to use in the event of an emergency. Vehicle drivers carry cellular phones. Motor Boats carry radios and follow strict communication protocols while traveling. A member of staff is monitoring communications to our operations base in Dangriga 24 hours a day.

Before each trip there is a comprehensive instructional session to familiarize participants with the environment, and the safety precautions required. We make no compromises on gear quality to ensure that your experience is safe, comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable. Please feel free to call or email if you have any specific questions related to the safety of our trips in Belize.

"This was our first sea kayak trip and we were certainly the least experienced in the group, nonetheless, with the guides' coaching we never felt out of place on the trip"
