1. Experiencing the Best of Belize on the Ultimate Adventure Trip (now Epic Belize trip) by Henriette Desrosiers

Ultimate Adventure trip

“...In 2011, I was looking for a fun and adventurous trip, that would take me to a beautiful country. A friend of mine said, "go to Belize with Island Expeditions and do the Ultimate Adventure, you'll love it!" He was right! The ATM cave was one of my favourite activities on that trip. That year, we were still allowed to take pictures, which I'm so grateful for. It's truly a sacred Mayan site, worth a side trip to go visit.

Kayaking the Moho River, made the trip a true ultimate adventure. On the third morning, on the river, I had the treat of being woken up by howler monkeys at 5 am, thankfully, they were across the river but honestly, it took me about 15 mins to have the courage to look outside to see that. Those little guys sure make a lot of noise, I laugh every time I think of it, I honestly thought they were right outside my tent and I was scared to look out...”

2. Drumming, music, dancing and gratitude by Elliot Rodger

Garifuna Cultural Night

“...As we join in celebrating Island Expedition’s 30th Anniversary we think of the wonderful Belizean staff who make these holidays so special. Capable and enthusiastic guides led us on ocean activities, on rivers, and in jungles while keeping us safe and comfortable. They improved our skills with patience and humour and they taught us about the fascinating Belizean culture and history. We think of the cooking staff who kept us so well fed with such delicious and varied meals and snacks prepared in basic kitchens. We think of the staff who kept the cabanas, washrooms, buildings, and grounds so clean. And we think of fun-filled evenings of drumming and dancing orchestrated by the staff. Here’s to them all with our gratitude!..”

3.  Throwback to 1998 by Caroline Falconer

Island Expeditions 1998 Trip

“...It was 1998 and I was looking for a new experience. I'd never been anywhere tropical before and wanted an active adventure. Booking a trip to Belize with Island Expeditions was the right choice! I spent 6 days on the ocean paddling from tiny island to tiny island. Turtles, nurse sharks, sting rays, barracudas,... the list of wildlife is endless. The second part of the trip was in the jungle paddling down the river. Howler monkeys, jaguars, incredible snakes and the biggest Blue Morpho Butterfly I've ever seen! All of the guides were incredible knowledgeable and really made the trip fun and challenging. It was this trip that inspired me to become certified as a sea kayak guide here in B.C. This is a trip I still think of often and highly recommend!...”

4. Unplugging at the Lighthouse Reef Basecamp by Juliet Faraj

Lighthouse Reef

“..I was a little nervous about taking a 14 year old to a place with no internet, no cell service and no television on our first trip to Belize in 2012 to Lighthouse Reef. My concern was totally misguided! My teenager declared it to be the best vacation ever! The location, the reef, the food, the wonderful people we met and warm spirit of the Belizean people touched our hearts. I think we both shed a tear when we had to leave…”

5.  Adventure in Belize by Colleen Sutton

Adventure in Belize

“...My husband had to talk me into this adventure. Sleep in a tent, compost toilets, no way! Thank goodness he did, it was one of the best trips we've been on. The 3 guides we had along the way were so personable, knowledgable, and funny. The snorkeling was the best we've ever had. I'd come back tomorrow!..”
